Welcome! Im Amanda the host of Own It! Since you are here I am going to confidently assume you have listened to my podcast and loved it! If you havent yet… Get to it!!! I am passionate about anything that leads you to be a better person! There is so much information available about exercising, fitness, nutrition etc. This is all great but Brain Health is just as important and I would argue more important. When you learn how to manage your mind everything else including your physical health will fall into place or as in my case you will accept what is and Own It! Learning to manage my mind has propelled me forward at a lightning speed and this Podcast is my next step in my healing process. Episode 1 of my podcast will give you an introduction to why I am so passionate about learning to Own it! I chose to call my podcast Own It! Because for so long I would hide in shame from my past and present. My depression, anxiety, health you name it I would avoid it if it caused any sort of pain! When I finally decided to Own It! My story my life my health I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders!
Some Tid Bits about me:
- I have been married for 15 years to a body building accountant… HAHAHAHA But really he loves working out and has his own accounting business. I thought I would marry a Skinny White Cowboy but that was not the case! Instead I married a guy who took me to get a gym membership and introduced me to protien shakes (Eyeroll) on one of our first dates. We couldn’t be more perfectly imperfect for eachother.
- I have 3 kids. A 13 year old daughter, 10 year old son, and 5 year old daughter. Being a Mom is what I always wanted and I love it! But boy is it HARD! Kids each come with their own challenges and it seems that for my kids health is our number one challenge. My 13 year old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 2 years ago, My 10 year old son was born with a club foot and about a year ago found out that he is having a “rare” reoccurance of it, knock on wood my youngest just has a lazy eye and stigmatism I will take that all day long! Oh we also have an Aussiedoodle named Stormy. She and I have an off a and on relationship. Its like having another kid! But my kids adore her and she has gotten my daughter through some tough times.
- As for me I have struggled with my mental and physical health my whole life. I have suffered from depression since a young age and been on and off of medcation since I was 18. About 9 years ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I have spent the last 9 years trying to lose weight and get healthy its been an uphill battle. I was recently diagnosed with LADA. Basically I had to come to terms with the fact that my Pancreas just doesn’t work as well as others. Im working on Owning it!
